Our scheduled guest speaker, Linda Mitchell of Zinsser, was unable to attend at the last minute. Fortunately, Dennis Young of Zinsser filled in. The following excerpt is from a letter Linda wrote on her way back home to Nashville, TN.

Dear Guild Members:

I sincerely regret that I have been called away and was unable to attend tonight's meeting. I was looking very forward to the opportunity of meeting you. In my absence, I have asked Dennis to kindly pass on some information that I had planned to share with you from the recent Wallcovering Association annual meeting as well as tell you about some exciting new products Zinsser will be introducing in the next few months.

As a former paperhanger, I have shared the frustration you often feel with wallcovering products that are outdated, inefficient and time consuming. I am quite honored now to have the opportunity to be working for Zinsser, as Zinsser is a company with a vision for the future of wallcovering. As the category manager for their wallcovering products, I have an opportunity to inspire products that make wallcovering projects easier and faster and more enjoyable.

That was the idea behind my first product, the WALWIZ®. Now Zinsser has given me the opportunity to take other ideas for improved wallpapering tools from concept to reality. From new adhesive and stripper rollers...to ComfortGrip® scissors and trimming knives, Zinsser is in the process of launching the wallcovering tool line under the brand name WALWORKS®. I was glad to hear Dennis will be passing out samples and I hope you will enjoy using them. Please be sure to tell your dealer about them.

In addition to the tools, Zinsser is planning to launch two new adhesive products within the next few months. The products will be marketed under the name SUREGRIP® and include: 1) a Paste-the-wall adhesive for use with new non-woven substrate wallcoverings that offers "great adhesion yet wallcoverings are easy to remove (dry strippable) at redecorating time", and 2) a Seam and Repair adhesive that "Grips in 10 Seconds" and comes with convenient twist open/close nozzle and larger 4 oz. size. Dennis will tell you more about the features and benefits of the innovative new formulas.

Moving forward, with the help of input from professional groups like your Chapter, we plan to continue to bring cutting edge innovative products to market that will improve the installation experience as well as leave the best results. We are looking for professionals who would be interested in helping us test products in development so we can ensure they are engineered properly. We hope you will join with us.

Again, I send my deepest regrets for not being able to attend. I hope sometime in the future I will have the opportunity to visit the West Coast again and meet you.
