In this meeting we discussed estimating for roll
goods specifically accounting for short bolts, patterns not starting
in the same place on different bolts, factory defects, and the first
foot of
pre-trimmed wallpapers being damaged during shipment. |
We also discussed how to inspect wallpaper before
installation. A Four Point Check will detect any obvious defect(s)
before you cut the first sheet. A demonstration was conducted detailing
how to effectively mix two of the most popular powdered activators:
Sure-Grip® and TEKNAbond®.

A pasting machine demo using a Tapo-Fix® XS-29
(without a counter) mounted on a 6' paste table detailed how to pull
random, straight, and drop matches, and goods rolled upside down.
With this set up, it's quite easy to make a split on a pasted 9' sheet.
Further discussed was counting pattern repeats and pulling regular
and scalloped borders through the machine. |
Special thanks to Rodda for donating
the wallcoverings used in this demo! |
Occasionally a prepasted wallpaper
will have too much factory paste. Removing the whipper bar and lid
from the XS-29 allows you to use the machine as a water tray. Be
sure to cut your sheets off the bolt before pulling and go under
the applicator roller, then back across the red return roller as
normal. If you're still experiencing too much factory paste, add
one cup of distilled white vinegar and pull another sheet. Up to
3 cups of vinegar may be used with 2 gallons of water in the machine.
This will get the factory paste under control. Likewise, you may
use a bucket with one gallon of water and a roller or brush. Just
add ½ cup of vinegar at a time up to 1½ cups max. |
